Those Right-Wing terrorists are at it again! This time they're endangering the entire planet with their misguided high-jinks. How dare they hack into the computers of one of the most prestigious Climate Science facilities in the world and publish the results of their theft?

Interestingly enough, the Scientists at the University Of East Anglia Climate Unit (they wrote the UN's IPCC paper on Climate Change) and their cohorts werent e-mailing each other expressing the outrage they felt at the dummies who couldnt understand the dire nature of the Global Warming Catastrophe, they werent pointing to the self-evidence and the watertight science that justifies their alarm and their solemn demand that we all lower our standard of living to try to fend off certain death in a soon-to-be rotisserie oven climate that our incandescent light bulbs and SUVs were about to cause. No, they had other things on their really smart Scientific minds.

Like why the data show no evidence of Global Warming and how to cover that very inconvenient truth up. That's why these extra-smart guys are earning the Big Bucks. They can look past the maze of often confusing 'facts' and see the Big Picture more sharply then us little nematodes. If the Big Picture calls for a bit of 'trickery' to adjust a few temperature graphs to make it appear that temperatures went up when in fact they went down then its the obligation of a Real Scientist to engage in that trickery. Those pesky tree-rings werent sending the right signals either. In fact, it would seem, to the uneducated mind, that every single thing these yo-yos have told us for the last twenty years is flat-out dead wrong and they've known about it the whole time.

I grew up in a 'scientific' family. My old man was a tech writer for years for a company that worked on the underground nuke tests in Nevada. In my house science was preferred over religion because science was true and religion was just a bunch of unsupported speculation. What am I to think now? Here are people who have shed the shackles of medieval superstition and dedicated themselves to a ruthless pursuit of the Truth, no matter where it might lead, who have found it necessary to resort to data adjustments to make the conclusions fit their preconceived opinions.

"Thou Shalt Not Lie'...that was some of that religious stuff. Pretty ludicrous. Where's the supporting evidence to show that that's something we ought to abide by? But something that the wise guys of Science didnt understand when they were laughing at Lot's wife turning into a pillar of salt and all that other stuff was that the totality of any belief system expresses itself in the type of society that arises from its tenets. For example, the mythology of Christianity gave rise to a society that rose to become the most free, the most advanced and the most humanitarian in human history. From that humanitarian concern for one's fellow man arose a branch of belief, one that became its own unique belief system, that posited that if the wisest and most enlightened among us would rewrite the Social Contract, that defines the relationship between an individual and society, that a truly just and fair world could emerge.

People who adhered to this belief system, now generally known as Socialism, abandoned the unscientific fairy stories about virgins having babies and people walking on water. They also abandoned the subjective pointing at some people as 'good' and others as 'bad' on the basis of one's actions. Morality is so complicated and there are so many different factors to consider. Who even needs morality when you have Science to lean on? And so these geniuses rolled up their Scientific sleeves and got to work.

The first try, the French Revolution, well...it started out great! Then it just lost its focus or something. Heads started rolling into baskets, a ruthless dictator emerged and fought a twenty-year war that killed millions and set fire to a continent. Well, part of Science is experimentation. Few hypotheses have had the testing that the Socialist hypothesis has had. The idea has been tried in dozens of countries, sometimes labeled Communism, Fascism, Social Democracy, People's Republics, Welfare States but somehow the correct formula has never been reached. The result is always the same. Disaster. Either the smoking ruins of National Socialist Germany or the degenerate chaos of a former Soviet Union or the genteel demographic death rattles of the Eurotrash Welfare states are the legacy of Socialism. Formerly vibrant cultures snuffed out, formerly energetic societies turning into aging hulks on the road to extinction are an intrinsic part of that legacy.

In every socialist country birth rates plunge. Its funny that no Brilliant Scientist has ever done a study to measure the relationship between the amount of government social programs and the birth rate. The country that was ravaged by Stalinism and is still an ugly crypto-socialist dictatorship has one of the lowest birth rates in the world. The high birth rate of Muslims in Russia masks the virtual disappearance of ethnic Russians. Almost every 'former' People's Republic is exactly the same. Western Europe, with its own bloated cradle-to-grave welfare systems and tax rates that border on total confiscation, will have depopulated itself in two generations. The immigrants from primitive countries with higher (but falling) birth rates are moving into an emptying continent filled with the ruins of the cathedrals built to a now-forgotten God. China hovers on the edge of a demographic disaster.

You would think that the same experiment getting the same result under a multitude of varying circumstances would lead minds steeped in Scientific Reason to the obvious conclusion.

But hey! This was about Global Warming wasnt it? That's Settled Science. In Stalin's USSR there was a biologist named Trofim Lysenko. He practiced 'settled science' too. If he settled on some science you better settle on it pretty quick yourself or he'd see to it that the appropriate agencies would 'settle' your hash. Just like what has happened to the 'Deniers' of Climate Gospel...oh, I mean Climate Science. While these Scientists were exchanging hundreds of e-mails about how the data werent backing up their speculations they were lauching political campaigns in faculties and in the public press smearing the 'Deniers' and trying to get them fired. Any Scientist too honest to keep his mouth shut and look at the Big Picture was castigated and sent to the edges of academic purgatory by the Settled Scientists, the one's who have so completely rejected Mythology and replaced it with Reason.

TS Eliot was right. The world ends not with a banging carbon-induced heat wave but with the whimper of our freedom and humanity being snuffed out by the dead hand of a Science that became a political religion.

James Hansen, a climate scientist who works for NASA, has discovered a new way to convince people that the Global Warming advocates have a compelling case; arrest everyone who doesnt agree.

Using the pogrom against the tobacco companies as an example of what government can do when it sets its mind to it he called for the arrest and trial of the executives of companies like ExxonMobil and Peabody Energy (coal) for 'high crimes against humanity and nature'. He forgot to call for the arrest of Hu Jintao (president of the People's Republic Of China) or anyone in the Indian government even though both of these nations are building coal-fired power plants as fast as they can and subsidizing the price of gasoline so that more of their people can afford to buy cars. But then these Climate Zealots dont care where the actual Greenhouse Gases are coming from do they? Calls for police-state measures against people who disagree with the faith undermine their credibility as scientists. Einstein rejected the Hiesenberg Principle but I dont remember him calling for the arrest of its advocates during the debate. Even in the Holy War against tobacco the anti-tobacco advocates started with a really clear scientific case. They had charts and numbers and studies to prove that tobacco caused lung cancer, heart attacks and emphysema. Where the crusade went awry was 'second hand smoke' where the evidence was a lot more nebulous and uncertain and was backed up with skewed studies and innuendo pointing to a 'conspiracy' to murder people by those who didnt agree with the orthodox view. The political zealots declared it the truth and proceeded to outlaw smoking in all public buildings and now, increasingly, in outdoor public places as well.
The reason that 'scientists' like Hansen can call for a political purge against their opponents and be applauded for it is simple; they are serving the purposes of the people who want to completely alter this society. These people want to end the free economy and lower the standard of living drastically for the average person. They want to end the global consumer society and replace it by one regulated by a class of economic mandarins who will view all economic activity through the prism of whatever theory happens to be in vogue at the moment. The history of these utopian schemes, which have been tried in every conceivable form for the last two centuries (the first try being the French Revolution), is always the same. The outcome has always been poverty, oppression, murder and the death of millions of innocent people. We've already seen the increase in food prices caused by the bio-fuel boondoggle resulting in hunger and misery in poor countries. Those same poor counties are going to experience a lot more misery and mass death as the uber-socialist economic planning cripples agriculture and distribution in the formerly wealthy countries. That's already happening. All the nightmare scenarios predicted 'if we dont DO SOMETHING about Global warming' are happening as a result of what we are doing about Global Warming.
I'm not a scientist. I hope I'm scientifically literate enough to understand a decently made case one way or another. But I do know a little bit about politics and the political agenda of the people who push Global Warming is clear, a world economy completely under the control of government, an end to free enterprise and free trade and now, apparently, the arrest and imprisonment of anyone who doesnt agree. If their scientific case is so compelling why do the advocates avoid free debates and lose badly when they do get in one? Why do they use such devious and underhanded tactics against their opponents if this is a scientific debate and not a political one. Why do they refuse to acknowledge hard data, such as the decline in global temperatures since 1998?
None of this matters, in the end. If the predicted wave of a Democratic Party victory occurs this November all debate will cease as the Dems use 'Fairness Doctrine'-like regulations to close conservative media outlets and move to effectively nationalize the economy. The arrest of the energy company execs and their showtrials on national TV that the Good Doctor Hansen yearns for so avidly will take place on our telescreens in a radically 'Changed' America.

But this isnt about the pseudo-science behind the hoax but about some of the results of acting on that misconceived premise. We've all been told for the last fifteen years or so that if we didnt heed the warnings! and act yesterday to change our evil, consumerist ways that whole ecosystems would cease to be and that millions would starve!
One of the most holy intonations in the Global Warming mantra is the prayer for the renewable energy sources which will replace evil petroleum and even more evil coal as energy sources. Evil nuclear, the true non-greenhouse, safe, renewable, infinitely abundant energy source is, of course, not considered an alternative because it is Evil. This hasnt stopped countries like France, Germany and Japan from producing almost all their electricity from nuclear power but they've been ignored by the fanatics who HATE nuclear power unless its a hydrogen bomb on the tip of an SS-20 medium-range Soviet missile aimed at them by St. Mikhail The Wonderful, in which case its a step towards World Peace. The True Answer is Bio-fuels! Ethanol! The moldy hippies from the big cities and the ever-greedy lords of Agribusiness see eye-to-eye on this one. Monstrously huge subsidies have been passed in congress to pour tens of billions of dollars into this miracle fuel. Unfortunately, because the corn must be planted and harvested by petroleum-gobbling farm machinery, because ethanol is distilled by heat, because it cant be transported by pipeline because it contains water which would damage the pipes and so must be transported by trucks with diesel-burning engines and then blended with gasoline at the refinery because few cars can burn pure ethanol without destroying their engines, ethanol actually takes more energy to produce and distribute than you get from burning it for fuel. This also means, in the aggregate, that it also produces more pollution than gasoline. But the main side effect has been its effect on food prices and the environment. The price of corn and wheat have shot up astronomically. The effect in the poorer nations has been mass hunger and even starvation. Countries like Haiti are dissolving into chaos because the average people cant afford to survive. As pleasing as it will be to see people in international parasite countries like Egypt and Pakistan go hungry as China and India outbid them for shrinking food supplies the result of this will probably be an ever increasing flood of hunger refugees into the countries whose economies can still feed their populations. But how long will that last? A century of Socialist Central Planning has left mounds of skeletal corpses wherever the people have been misguided enough to dispossess the successful farmers and adopt the heavy hand of government-imposed fairness. Zimbabwe is the latest example. Before Mugabe kicked out the evil capitalist farmers and redistributed their land to his political cronies the population was 13 million well-fed people and a healthy food export industry. Today, a mere decade later, the population is seven million people, most of them on the brink of starvation.
Now, with the United States preparing to abandon capitalism and seriously discussing nationalizing industry after industry the continued supply of food, even to its own citizens, let alone the rest of the world, is in doubt. So in a sense, the mass starvation predicted as a result of Global Warming has already started to occur, not because of any change in the weather but because the 'threat' of Global Warming has increased government meddling in the production and distribution of food has caused chaos and dysfunction in food marketing. It also seems that the sacred Rain Forests have got to be sacrificed to create more bio-fuel producing farmland and hopefully enough food so that Brazilians dont die of starvation behind the wheels of their ethanol-powered cars. Screw the Rainforest, we cant let the environment get in the way of protecting the environment, can we?
Which brings us to our second non-solution. Wind power. We've all seen the forests of bird-pureeing windmills that government subsidies have caused to be set up in what used to be called 'The Pacific Flyway', where tens of millions of migratory birds followed the path of the winds from north to south and back again. You know birds, "Dirty, filthy, disgusting, lice-ridden, BOIDS!" as the lady in 'The Producers' once said. The ugly, noisy windmills arent very efficient at producing electricity but they are better at killing birds than ten million meth-crazed, shotgun-toting rednecks with an unlimited supply of ammunition. The same people who wept when the pigeons of Trafalgar Square were denied food in the name of urban cleanliness heartlessly turn their backs of these feathered bug-eating pests in the name of Renewable Energy. The article from 'The Scotsman' is about the campaign to seed the empty and beautiful heathlands of Northern England with ugly, noisy windfarms. Of course the fragile peat bogs will have to be broken up to lay roads, transmission lines and the concrete bases that these monsters sit on, just as the desert environment has been permanently damaged by the ones we have in Cali. Again, the infrastructure to make these things work, and the energy required to keep them online is immense and comes close to cancelling out the energy you get from them. On windless days they produce NO power, as several wind-powered towns in Texas found out recently.
The problem here is that Global Warming has never been anything but an excuse for the Central Planners in the government to get control of what's left of the free economy. The discredited Central Planning nostrums that have seen a century of failure and disaster are now necessary to cure our Evil Consumerist ways. if we dont adopt command Socialism THE WORLD WILL DIE! Welcome to the New Age of Feudalism.

Those of us who want to profit from Global Warming have had some terrible shocks lately. National Public radio has an article on its website talking about how an intensive five-year state-of-the-art program to monitor global ocean temperatures found that global ocean temperatures went down! There's a lot of head-scratching in the article; if Global Warming is an established, incontrovertible fact then how do you explain something this big? They try but it is through a disturbing, convoluted thought process that is, ahem, somewhat unconvincing.
Which brings us to the second article in our set. This one fed random data into the climate model that got Algore's 'hockey stick' temperature graph, which showed a flat, stable climate until the late 20th century when it shoots up sharply, and found that any data inputted into this computer model will produce the same result. This 'hockey stick' business was always a bit suspicious because the historical record shows a wide swing in world temperatures over time... with the higher temperature times coinciding with times of prosperity and social stability and the cooler eras, especially the cooling in the fifth-seventh centuries and 'Little Ice Age' from 1300-1850, coinciding with times of chaos, anarchy and starvation. After all, the earliest civilizations arose in China, Mesopotamia and Egypt rose as temperatures increased at the end of the Ice Age and made the social organization necessary to create huge irrigation systems and more complex social organizations to regulate them.
The third article in this set is an attack by Michelle Malkin on the phony temperature data collected by NASA to back up the contention that the 1990's were the warmest decade of the 20th century. Temperature monitoring stations were purposely placed in places (on asphalt, etc.) that caused false high readings. When the data was 'adjusted' for this 'error' it turns out that the 20's and the 30's were just as hot or hotter.
So much for the science being 'established'. This last colder-than-average winter and all this contradictory data are bringing into stark relief the politically self-serving motives of the ideologues who are pushing this bogus science as a justification for a government takeover of the world economy. Well, not the world economy, because the Chicoms, the Indians and every other nation that doesnt want to live in grass huts for the rest of eternity are treating this with the contempt it deserves; just the economies of the media-obsessed developed nations whose citizens can be reduced to tears by pictures of polar bears on melting ice flows and whose educational systems have become so dysfunctional that most people arent aware of what a total disaster government-planned economies are for the people who live in them. The fact that the eco-morons who are so obsessed with greenhouse gases refuse to consider greenhouse friendly nuclear power as an option should show how politically motivated this whole business is. The chaotic idiocy of ethanol production, raising food prices and energy prices without increasing the availability of renewable energy is another good example of the stupidity of a government-mandated program to fix the weather. In the end all the Global Warming palliatives offered by the advocates of this theory seem to involve steep tax increases.
So before you purchase that beachside condo in Point Barrow, Alaska you might want to remember something; if the eco-loonies win this November they will take steps to shut down the American economy, something leftists have proven they can achieve very ably. The collapse of the economy, along with the mass starvation the end of our global food distribution system will entail, will certainly lower the output of greenhouse gases. Only a few chosen aristocrats will have any modern conveniences while the mass of surviving helots will be eking a rude, primitive existence from a harsh, unforgiving Earth.
